“Music by the Sea” and spectacular fireworks display to highlight Festival of Independence on Maine’s Midcoast
The Festival of Independence Schedule is as follows:
Friday, July 1: Bay Chamber Concerts Summer Music Festival Opening Night, Rockport Opera House, 8 p.m.
Friday, July 1: Celebration Life Family Church concert, Camden Amphitheatre. Free concert; bring blankets or chairs for seating. 6-8pm.
Friday, July 1: 2nd annual Bayside Block Festival. Live music, raffles, open houses, refreshments, entertainment. Downtown Camden. 4-7 p.m.
Saturday, July 2:The Concert Handbell Choir of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry, CT, Camden Amphitheatre Camden, 1 p.m. concert; bring blankets or chairs for seating.
Saturday July 2 & Sunday July 3: The Fabulous 50s and Sensational 60s Car Meet and Antique Aeroplane Show, Owls Head Transportation Museum. 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday, July 3: Camden Rotary Club presents Music by the Sea: Noon – MoJO Monday Night Jazz Orchestra (Harbor Park); 1:30 p.m. – Midcoast Community Band (Amphitheater); 3:00 p.m. – Steelin Thunder steel drum band (Harbor Park). All free, bring blankets or chairs for seating.
Sunday, July 3: Bay Chamber Concerts present Dancing in the Streets, starts at 8:30 p.m. Celebrate Independence Day Weekend by dancing the night away to classic Motown performed by Jr. Walker & The Allstars. Harbor Park, Camden.
Sunday, July 3: Eve of Independence Fireworks, 9:15 p.m. (weather date Mon July 5). Display by Central Maine Pyrotechnics
Sunday, July 3: Reprise of Dancing in the Streets, starting at 9:45 p.m. (post fireworks).
Monday, July 4: Thomaston Traditional Small Town 4th of July Parade, 11 a.m.
Monday, July 4: “Maine’s Own” 195th Army Band of the Maine Army National Guard, 3:00 p.m. in the Camden Amphitheatre, Atlantic Avenue, Camden.
Monday July 4: Fireworks, Thomaston, 9:15 p.m.
Tuesday, July 5: Historian James Nelson’s newest book is With Fire and Sword: The Battle of Bunker Hill and the Beginning of the American Revolution. Nelson, of Harpswell, Maine, will give a talk on the battle of Bunker Hill at the Camden Public Library on Tuesday, July 5, at 6:30 p.m.
